Livestock 2022
Livestock 2022 (L2022) offers a unique opportunity to join a selected group of producers, researchers and extension professionals for a two day workshop designed to identify future trends impacting on broadacre livestock production in Southern Australia. Attendance is limited to 80 participants.
Using a series of scenarios which will be presented and challenged by subject experts, participants will workshop ideas and concepts relating to a best practice livestock production business of 2035 or thereabouts. The workshops will be highly interactive using small groups each made up of a mixture of researchers, extension providers and producers. The producers will include the SALRC Regional Chairs and members of the Regional Committees. These producers are at the forefront of broadacre livestock production in Southern Australia.
The objective of L2022 is to bring producers, researchers and extension professionals together to consider what a red meat livestock farm will be like in 20 plus years and the research activity which will be needed to allow them to reach their potential. To assist attendees in moving from here and now to blue sky thinking, SALRC has engaged Paul Higgins (Futurist) who will develop scenarios for possible futures around four broad topics. Key speakers will challenge / support / add to the scenarios. These four broad topics include – Information Technology, Bio-technology, Social Values and Ethics, and Competing Products.
