Regional Chair – Elke Hocking

With over 20 years’ experience within the livestock industry, Elke currently works as a private livestock consultant, involved in extension and adoption programs for red meat and wool producers. Elke has a Masters’ Degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Adelaide and previously worked for the Beef CRC in NSW and PIRSA Rural Solutions SA. 

Based in Lucindale, in the South East of SA, Elke also runs a prime lamb and beef cattle enterprise along with her husband and has farming interests on the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island with her parents’ beef cattle and wool enterprises.  Elke is the public officer for the SA Livestock Consultants group, Chair of the SA Sheep and Beef Industry Blueprint working group and sits on MLA’s Producer Adoption Reference Group and the SA Sheep Industry Fund board.

Elke is passionate about producers being able to profitably and sustainably produce high yielding beef and lamb that meets consumers’ expectations in terms of eating quality, nutrition and safety through the adoption of new technology, best practice production systems, value-based trading and a positive, professional approach to business
