Regional Chair – Jen Smith

Jen Smith is a sheep and cattle producer in east Gippsland, Victoria, near Bairnsdale. Jen has studied environmental science and earned a master’s degree in business administration. She has worked in the fields of natural resource management and irrigation design. She and her husband Brad started farming in 2010. Her first ten years of farming were highly variable, with three years of drought, two bushfires, and some of the wettest years on record. They feedlot sheep, traded both sheep and cattle, and run a beef sharefarm. They are still running the beef sharefarm and have settled on running self-replacing angus cattle and self-replacing maternal composite sheep.
