SALRC’s Regional Committees have again helped shape the way for MLA’s Producer Demonstration Sites (PDS) after releasing their 2021 PDS priorities.

MLA invests annually in projects that conduct practical trials and demonstrations of new technologies and management practices at a commercial scale on sheep and cattle properties across Australia. These are aimed at increasing the adoption of new technologies and management practices by commercial sheep meat and beef producers.

During January and February this year SALRC consulted with our seven regional producer committees to come up with what we see as the priorities for PDS projects in our regions.  We would like to thank our regional producer and stakeholder members for their time and input into this process and have included a copy of the submitted PDS priorities below.

MLA PDS Call:

The 2021-22 Terms of Reference and levy PDS priorities will be available on the MLA website on 26 March 2021, with the Call opening on 1 April 2021 and closing on 12 May 2021.

MLA PDS Webinar:

In preparation for the upcoming call opening on 1 April 2021, MLA is holding a webinar to provide an overview of the Producer Demonstration Site (PDS) program and what you need to do to apply. The webinar will be held on Wednesday 10 March at 4pm-5.30pm AEDT.

MLA PDS Project Manager Hilary Connors, alongside PDS Coordinators Russell Pattinson and Maria Thompson, will provide an overview of MLA’s PDS program and how to set yourself up for success in the upcoming PDS call – this is open to producers, consultants, facilitators and anyone who may be interested in running or participating in a PDS.

This webinar will cover:

  • Different funding mechanisms
  • What is involved throughout the lifetime of the project
  • How to form a PDS group
  • Resources available to establish a proposal and undertake a project
