Expressions of Interest – SALRC Regional Committee Chairs

Help shape the future of Australia’s livestock industry.

Regional leadership positions are available in the following SALRC Regions:
South Australia ● Central Vic ● Central & Western NSW and QLD Sheep

The Southern Australia Livestock Research Council (SALRC) is seeking experienced livestock producers and industry leaders to lead Regional Committees and represent producer priorities in shaping livestock research, development, extension and adoption (RDE&A) across southern Australia.

Regional Committee Chairs play a pivotal leadership role within SALRC, ensuring the opportunities and challenges facing producers are reflected in future industry investment, innovation and on-ground outcomes.

Why become a Regional Chair?
As a Regional Chair, you will:
 Lead a Regional Committee of producers and industry stakeholders. 
Represent your region on the SALRC Council.
 Help shape future livestock RDE&A priorities and investment.
●  Collaborate with
 leading producers, researchers, government agencies and industry organisations.
● 
Influence initiatives that deliver practical outcomes for producers.
● 
Build leadership, facilitation and governance experience while making a lasting contribution to the red meat industry.

    We’re looking for leaders who:
    ●  Are actively involved in the grass-fed beef and/or sheepmeat industries.
    ●  Understand livestock production systems and regional issues.
    ●  Are respected within their industry and community.
    ●  Can confidently facilitate discussion and bring people together.
    ● 
    Have an interest in research, innovation and continuous improvement.
    ● 
    Are committed to ensuring producer priorities shape future industry investment.

    Role details
    ●  Approximately 12 days per year
    ●  Sitting fees provided and reasonable expenses reimbursed.
    ●   
    Appointments re for three-year terms, with potential for reappointment for a second term.
    ● 
    Tenure commences following the SALRC AGM on 7 September 2026.
    ● 
    Current Regional Chairs may be eligible for reappointment; all positions are open to new applicants.
